Thane Accident: Three Killed, Three Injured When Car Hits Tree in Tokawade, Murbad

On Sunday around 8:30 p.m., a car carrying six people crashed into a tree in Tokawade, Murbad, resulting in three deaths and three injuries. The group was en route to Bhimashankar for darshan when the accident occurred.

The deceased have been identified as Narendra Mhatre, 34, Pratik Choraghe, 30, and Ashwin Bhoir, 28. The injured individuals are Shivaji Ghadage, 35, Vaibhav Kumawat, 24, and Akshay Ghadage, 25, all from Kalyan Taluka in Thane.

According to the Tokawade police, the group was traveling in an Ertiga car from Kalyan to Bhimashankar temple for the first day of Shravan. The vehicle lost control in Tokawade and struck a tree.

Local bystanders alerted the police, and the victims were taken to a nearby hospital. Three of them were pronounced dead on arrival, while the injured sustained fractures to their legs and arms and are currently receiving medical care. 

Assistant Police Inspector Dinkar Chakore stated, "We found out that the deceased, Mhatre, was a local contractor in Kalyan, while the other two victims were employed at Mhatre's worksite. After the post-mortem, the bodies were returned to their families for the final rites."
